Amaryllis Lopez (she/her) is Elevated Thought's program director. As PD, Lopez develops and supports programming in tandem with our collaborating artists and community members, provides leadership planning, and encourages the continuous education and development of staff.
Lopez is an Afro-Puerto Rican cultural worker, born and raised in Lawrence, MA. Her work explores themes of womanhood, colonialism, and Blackness. Her thesis, Se dice pelo bueno: Black Affirmations in Contemporary Puerto Rican Literature highlights how nonfolkloric, contemporary literary affirmations of Blackness serve as an additional resistance strategy to counter blanqueamiento. Lopez holds a B.A. in English with minors in Latin American & Caribbean Studies and African American Studies from Bridgewater State University.
