Straight from the Source

At the end of May, the Lawrence Youth Council held an event called “Straight from the Source”. Our members presented what they have been working on this past year, 2018-19, to the community. The LYC collected narratives from Lawrence Public Schools students through their Listening Sessions to understand the condition and extent of student voice and student rights in LPS. These narratives supplemented by student art has been compiled into a booklet titled ‘Straight from the Source’. During the event, there was also a student panel, consisting of student representatives from the Lawrence Public Schools and alumni, to discuss their lived experiences in LPS and ways to create a supportive environment for students to speak to up and advocate for themselves.
