The Lawrence Youth Council (LYC) was created under the City of Lawrence Mayor’s Health Task Force (MHTF) with awareness-raising and activism as some of its core elements, carried out through the lens of social justice and health equity, in line with the MHTF. LYC members are charged with representing youth in the city of Lawrence, creating opportunities to give youth a voice, advocating for issues important to youth, and organizing and developing youth-related projects, programs, events and activities. Through a contract with the city, Elevated Thought has coordinated the LYC for almost four years.
