Today: No Women's Prison Movement



The Criminal Justice Reform Caucus is hosting a briefing today Wednesday, March 31st at 4pm on the No Women's Prison Movement, in response to the DOC and DCAMM's ongoing contract negotiations for a new women's prison. Please join us to hear updates from an extensive panel of legislators, activists, and researchers about the serious harm that these negotiations pose for our communities and the rapid rate at which they are advancing these plans.


Today's speakers will include:

  • Sen. Comerford and Rep. Tyler, who will introduce SD.1774/HD.3824, An Act establishing a jail and prison construction moratorium

  • Andrea James, Stacey Borden, and Mallory Hanora, Families for Justice as Healing

  • Susan Sered, Professor of Sociology at Suffolk University

  • Norma Wassel, NASW

  • Rep. Khan and Rep. Barber, co-chairs of the Justice-Involved Women Task Force
