'What is Education?' Level Up!

Updated: Aug 26, 2019

We’re proud to announce a new partnership with the Nellie Mae Education Foundation! Elevated Thought has received a grant from their Amplifying Student Voice and Leadership (ASVL) fund. This grant provides longer-term funding to grantees to work independently and as a learning community as they promote the cause of better student-centered schools and district systems. The intent is to expand student voice and leadership across New England to support building public awareness, understanding, support, and demand for student-centered learning practices in the grantee’s respective schools.

Elevated Thought and was selected to expand our ‘What is Education?’ work and strengthen its existing structures and frameworks to educate, engage, and motivate youth for greater, more intensive action with the goal of cementing an educational platform that will be the base for middle and high school public schooling once the state receivership concludes.

This is a game changer for us but also for our main partners and allies who have been working diligently with youth and civic leaders around building a community and youth driven education platform for Lawrence.

Youth in Elevated Thought and the Lawrence Youth Council have already been developing plans and strategies with the new funding. Stay tuned as we continue the journey!
