i am art. i am change.
Our i am art. i am change. youth programs encourage youth to examine societal issues, specifically the ones they see in and around their community and push them to explore new ideas and creative solutions to social issues through conversation, creation, and collaboration.
History, philosophy, critical thinking, collaboration, public outreach, and organizing are all elements of the program. We believe that exposure and access to this type of learning can empower youth to lead and organize for systematic equality in their cities, and beyond. All the while, students are provided time to self-reflect, to express, build their own solid foundation for growth and success, and provide and work with our professional artists in developing ideas and blueprints for projects and initiatives that are brought into the public sphere.
We offer after school programs at our headquarters, in schools and at community organizations.
Our annual scholarship program is offered to a Lawrence youth in their senior year of high school, who has been part of ET programming. Students must be attending school for an art medium, social justice, organizing, public policy, or education. Providing access to our professional artists, creative resources and internships in our programs or wide-scale projects, the effect from this scholarship stretches beyond a single check.
